Yesterday with the passing of Bob Feller, we lost not only one of the greatest baseball players of all-time, but also a proud American.  Feller, to some, may have been rough around the edges and too filled with self-pride for their liking. He didn’t mind. Bob always shot straight whether you liked it or not. He also lived by the motto: “If you don’t promote yourself, who will?” It is a sad day for baseball as the legendary names and faces of yesteryear are fading faster than they can be replaced.

There are countless Bob Feller obituaries and remembrances being written today; all well intentioned. I just wish that we as a nation would celebrate people while they are still around to see it. That said, instead of writing my own tribute to Rapid Robert, please allow me to direct you to one written by the best: Joe Posnanski. It’s a tad lengthy, but Joe has never been accused of brevity. If you want to learn a little more about The Heater from Van Meter and maybe a bit about yourself, take a few minutes, click the link below, and give it a read.
